Achieved 0% Rust Rejections and 12-Month Component Preservation in Crankshaft Manufacturing
About The Company
A major crankshaft manufacturer supplying components to domestic OEMs. The company required reliable rust protection to ensure components remained in good condition during storage and transit after dispatch.
Challenges
They faced severe rusting issues on crankshafts after 1 to 1.5 months of dispatch to domestic OEMS. The rust led to the rejection of components. Additionally, their existing German rust preventive left oily residues that made the shop floor wet and slippery, posing safety hazards.
Solution
We recommended RUSTSEAL 55 SX3 CIE, a dry-to-touch rust preventive with fast evaporation and long-term protection. An SOP was implemented, including proper handling practices (use of nitrile gloves) and process improvement suggestions like a conical RP tank with a drain valve.
Result
Rusting issues were eliminated; components remained rust-free for up to 6–12 months.
The shop floor remained clean and dry, significantly improving safety.
No rejections from OEMS due to rust
Standardised handling and dipping processes ensured long-term consistency.
Testimonial
RUSTSEAL 55 SX3 CIE has given us much better control over corrosion during storage and transit. The dry finish keeps our shop floor cleaner, while the longer protection period has helped us eliminate rust-related rejections
